Warning signs

Knowing the warning signs and how to recognize them can be an important step in getting help for someone in need. Meth users may become addicted very quickly, needing higher doses and using more often. Individuals who are abusing meth may experience one or many of the following symptoms:

  • hyperactivity
  • hallucinations
  • incessant talking
  • extreme moodiness
  • irritability
  • picking at skin, pulling hair
  • false sense of confidence/power
  • aggressive behaviors
  • loss of enjoyment in life
  • erratic sleep patterns
  • severe weight loss
  • paranoia

Certain paraphernalia are often associated with meth use, such as syringes, straws, small plastic bags, glass pipes, butane lighters, and razorblades.
